The Madison Heights community comes
together every Independence Day

The 15th Annual MHNA July 4th Parade and Picnic is coming up fast. Launched in 2001 as response to the tragic events of 9/11, our July 4th event honors those we’ve lost, celebrates hometown heroes, and strengthens  the relationships between neighbors.

Kicking off at 10 am and wrapping up around 1 pm, this event is a great way to start the holiday.

The parade starts just south of Fillmore on Euclid St, and goes down Euclid to Allendale Park. Spectators are welcome to break out folding chairs and stadium cushions. Loud cheering is encouraged.

We're thrilled to have the Blair ROTC color guard lead the parade. We have three longtime Madison Heights residents sharing the Grand Marshal honor. We’ll have a Master of Ceremonies, too.

If it has wheels or paws, decorate it and join the procession! Bikes, trikes, strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, unicycles, scooters and even patriotic dogs are welcome. (The parade line-up starts at 10 and parade starts at 10:30.)

The parade flows into Allendale Park and the picnic begins in the open space between the playground and the tennis courts. The Pie 'N Burger truck will be onsite from 11am to 1pm. Your lunch ticket gets you a soda, chips, and your choice of a burger, hot dog or grilled cheese sandwich.

Plan to treat yourself to shaved ice from the Kona Ice Truck and then gawk at the classic cars on display. A few community organizations will be exhibiting as well.

Tom Solis and his band will perform the perfect blend of covers and original songs. Of course, we'll have crafts for the kids. Everyone will have the opportunity to write to members of our military to thank them for their service and to share news from the home front.

So plan to come out to meet the new MHNA board members, get some sun, and make another Madison Heights memory with your friends and family.
